There are days when you need to get there fast. And there are days when you need to get there differently.
Today, on World Car Free Day, we’re suggesting something as simple as it is revolutionary: leave the car parked. Walk. Take the bus. Get on your bike. Slow down. Because reducing car use isn’t only about helping create a planet with less pollution and cleaner air. It can also be an opportunity to reclaim something we often leave parked in the wrong place: our own time.
Because tell us something: when was the last time you allowed yourself to simply be? To sit on a bus and look out of the window without thinking about the next traffic light. To walk without worrying about finding a parking space. To cycle while the breeze messes up your hair. To sit for a few minutes without anyone asking what’s next. To let your thoughts move at their own pace. To breathe.
Maybe what we need is fewer engines and a little more pause.
We live with our foot too close to the accelerator. We rush to get there, to do things, to achieve, to make the most of every minute. And, without even realising it, we turn time into just another thing to consume.
That’s why World Car Free Day can also be an invitation to rediscover the pleasure of taking things slowly. To understand that stopping doesn’t mean wasting time. Stopping is also a way of taking care of yourself.
And that’s something we understand well at MarSenses.
Because when you arrive at one of our hotels, we want exactly that to happen: for the pace to change. For a few days, you don’t have to rush. You can wake up without looking at the clock, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, go for a walk, swim, read a few pages, talk for hours or simply look out at the Mediterranean without a single pending obligation.
To have time. Time for yourself. Quality time. Time that isn’t measured in kilometres, meetings or travel times.
Perhaps that’s why travelling can also be a way of finding your way back to yourself. Of stepping away from the car, the noise, the rush and that constant feeling that you should always be doing something else.
Today, we leave the car parked for the planet. But hopefully, we can also learn to park, even just for a while, the rush, the worries and everything that keeps us from breathing.
Because there are destinations you don’t need to reach quickly. You just need to arrive.
And when you arrive at MarSenses, let yourself go. The rest can wait.
