Today, we’re here (although, as you already know, it’s really just me—one person, one tiny human… or a rather big one, depending on how you look at it!) to talk about a topic that’s usually associated with the less pleasant side of the mind, personality, and human behaviour: boundaries.
When we talk about boundaries, we tend to think of the actions we take—or the words, phrases, or mantras we repeat—to put an end to situations that don’t help us, don’t serve us, or simply aren’t good for us. And yes, that’s true in most cases. I encourage you to reflect on it and explore the subject a little more, because learning to set healthy boundaries can make a huge difference in everyday life.
Today, however, I want to focus on setting boundaries for the good things. Take choosing a holiday destination, for example. It sounds a little strange, I know—but bear with me for a moment, and I think it’ll make sense.
When searching for the perfect holiday, one of the most important things is knowing who you're travelling with. Whether it’s just you enjoying your own company, a group of friends, your partner, or the whole family—it’s essential to know not only what you want, but also what you don’t want.
For example, this slightly touristy version of Carrie Bradshaw prefers staying at Adults Only hotels. I love being able to relax, enjoy the peace and quiet, swim in the pool without distractions, listen to my favourite music, or lose myself in whatever book I’m currently obsessed with (I won’t mention the title—this isn’t the place for literary recommendations!). :-)
I like exploring every corner of the hotel I’m staying in without children running around or Baby Shark playing in the background. And yes, I know there are plenty of people who love that atmosphere—but it’s simply not for me. That’s why one of the boundaries I set for my holidays is choosing places without children. It’s an environment where I can also strike up conversations by the pool bar, chat with someone on the sun lounger next to mine, or discuss the delicious dishes at the buffet with fellow guests who share the same appreciation for good food.

I’m not looking for a holiday filled only with fried food, fast food, or dishes I could easily eat back home. I want something different. I want to taste authentic local flavours. I want to discover the places where the locals actually eat. I want to ask the hotel staff where they would go for lunch or dinner, what hidden gems they recommend, and which restaurants they genuinely love.
I want to feel like I’m part of the place I’m visiting—not just another tourist strolling along the main avenue next to the hotel. I want the full experience: genuine local immersion.
